2012 Presidium Meeting of the Association of Towns Awarded the Europe Prize has hosted between 5 - 7 November 2012 by Greater Ankara Municipality. City of Czestochowa, Darmstadt, Kharkov, Mülheim an der Ruhr, Nancy, Regensburg and Würzburg are represented in Mayors, Vice-Mayor or City Councillor level. The 2012 General Assembly of the Association of Towns Awarded the Europe Prize, had been executed successfully and achieved the desired goals, under the courteous hospitality of H.E.Krzysztof MATYJASZCZYK, Mayor of Czestochowa, with the participation of Ankara, Cockermouth, Damstadt, Gdynia, Katowice, Mervejols, Neuköln von Berlin, Regensburg, St. Pölten, Würzburg cities.
On the basis of an agenda prepared in advance, the primary event of this year’s General Assembly was the “Active Ageing” Conference. The “Active Ageing” conference, which was enriched with the studies of academicians, had given us the oppurtunity to share the best practices in regard to the services that are provided to the “elderly people”. The decleration of the 2012 General Assembly, which is accepted unanimously and addressed important issues like “the rights of the elderly people”, “promoting active ageing” and “avoiding the exclusion of the elderly people from society and daily life”, is also sent to the member cities by post. Furthermore, in accordance with the resolutions adopted in Czestochowa, 2012 Presidium Meeting of the Association is going to be held in Ankara, while the 2013 General Assembly of the Association is determined to take place in Würzburg, Federal Republic of Germany.

This year the General Assembly of the Association of Towns Awarded the Europe Prize will be held
from 21st to 24th June in Czestochowa, Poland.
June 21st : Arrival of Delegations
June 22nd: Conference on “Activation of the Elderly” and in the afternoon the General Assembly
June 23rd: Before noon – Presentation of Institutions occupied with the activation of the elderly in
Czestochowa, in the afternoon - Music Festival Frytka OFF
June 24th: Departure of Delegations
City of Czestochowa covers the meals, transfers from & to airport and local transformation.
English, German and French intrepreters will be provided.
Participant cities pay for airfare and accommodation.

Mayor of Ankara elected President of the Association

During the last General Assembly of the Towns Awarded the Europe Prize in Ankara/Turkey (May 5th-May 8th) the Mayor of Ankara Melih GÖKCEK was unanimously elected President of the Association of Towns Awarded the Europe Prize. The members of the Association adopted the “Ankara Declaration” about social cohesion.
